The M.A. in Organizational Leadership requires 30 credits. Most students enroll part-time, taking one or two courses per term, and finish in about two years. At Rider, full-time graduate study is defined as 9 credits (three courses) per semester. Students who study full-time may be able to finish in as little as one-and-a-half years, depending on their concentration and course availability.

The program is flexible and can be completed fully online or in a hybrid format, depending on your concentration, with most courses offered in seven-week sessions.

• Fully online: Higher education leadership and talent & organizational development concentrations.
• Hybrid: Life and career coaching and counseling-related services concentrations, which include some in-person coursework.

The cohort model encourages peer-to-peer learning and close faculty advising.

When you start the program, you’ll join a small group of students (a cohort) who move through key courses together. This structure creates a built-in support network of peers from different industries and backgrounds. You’ll learn not only from your professors but also through collaboration and real-time discussion with classmates. Many students find that the cohort model helps them stay motivated, build strong professional connections, and form mentoring relationships with faculty and peers that last beyond graduation.
 

No. Applicants are not required to submit GRE or GMAT scores.

You will select your concentration when you apply to the program. Options include talent and organizational development, higher education leadership, life and career coaching, and counseling-related services.

Your coursework will combine leadership theory with applied practice. Depending on your concentration, you’ll study areas such as organizational design and dynamics, leadership communication, team development, financial decision-making, coaching and mentoring, or higher education administration. All students complete a capstone experience in their final semester that applies research and leadership strategies to a real organizational challenge. Your academic advisor will work closely with you to develop a personalized course sequencing plan during your first semester.

In your last semester, you’ll complete a capstone project or thesis that integrates your learning. The capstone serves as a culminating experience where you apply theory, research, and leadership strategies to an organizational problem of practice. This consists of a 30-minute presentation and final thesis paper. Capstones will be published through ProQuest. 

All students must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Students admitted provisionally may need to demonstrate a 3.0 within their first 12 credits (or sooner, if specified in their admission letter).
