Thirteen years after her son, Matthew, was targeted for a fatal beating simply for being gay, Judy Shepard told a Unity Days audience that ignorance remains the biggest enemy of tolerance and understanding.

The diversity of Rider’s people and cultures truly enriches our University community, and to that end, Rider is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in November.

Rider launched its School of Liberal Arts and Sciences 50th Anniversary celebration on October 26 with Passport to the World, which presented an opportunity to meet Rider faculty members and students born outside the United States and experience the culture of their native lands, one nation at a time.

The local nonprofit aims to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to send a message that ‘peace begins at home.’
