Jessica Burgh ’12 is the first child of a Rider graduate who also happens to be a faculty member to earn a degree from the institution. Her father, Dr. Richard Burgh ’68, is a professor of Philosophy.

Rider was recognized for leading the way toward more effective teacher preparation, at the inaugural Showcase of Exemplary Practices: Excellence in Teacher Preparation on April 20 in Princeton, N.J.

The event also featured a scholarship video and performances from the spring production of The Producers inside the BLC Theater.

Eric Balboa ’13 and Megan Pendagast ’13 were announced as the recipients of the Virginia Cyrus Scholarship for 2012-13, and GSS program director Dr. Mary Morse was presented the Ziegler-Gee Award at the 30th anniversary Gender and Sexuality Studies Colloquium on April 12.

Several student organizations will hold a series of programs from Monday, April 23, through Saturday, April 28.

The staff of The Rider News, the University’s student weekly, earned a total of six awards, including two first-place nods, at the 2011-12 New Jersey Collegiate Press Association College Newspaper contest.
