Discussions reagarding the University’s financial situation and restructuring steps
Dear Rider Community,
Yesterday, the Board of Trustees met to discuss the University’s financial situation and restructuring steps it might take to improve the financial health of Rider, meet its fiduciary duties and establish a new foundation for a strong Rider. The Board’s discussions explored these matters in extensive depth, all with a focus on meeting the financial challenges head on while pivoting the University to new stability and growth. The Board has unanimously approved the March to Sustainability plan that was presented.
To continue these conversations, I have invited the leadership of our AAUP and AFSCME unions to discuss matters with us closely as well, including the full range of options that can meet our needs and goals as an institution. We plan to begin these discussions immediately.
We continue to evaluate options and appreciate union leaderships’ engaging in these continued discussions. We will do our best to keep you informed as those unfold. Our priorities remain finding the best possible paths to reinvest in our students’ experiences and in the vital educational mission that has distinguished Rider across its 160-year history and must continue to serve our students for years to come. I am grateful to my colleagues, and to the Board, for their deep and thoughtful engagement in this seminal work in service to Rider’s future.
Sincerely,
John R. Loyack, CPA, MBA
President
