Coughlin鈥檚 views on New Jersey鈥檚 political climate and electoral prospects among key topics to be discussed

The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at 小优视频 will host 鈥An Evening with Speaker Craig Coughlin鈥 on Feb. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in Lynch Adler Hall Room 202.
New Jersey General Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin has represented the 19th legislative district since 2010 and was elected assembly speaker in 2018.
Points of discussion for the evening鈥檚 events include Coughlin鈥檚 views on his majority鈥檚 electoral prospects for the upcoming 2023 elections, his potential candidacy for higher office, safety for public officials and his thoughts on New Jersey鈥檚 current political climate.
"Our students and members of the Rider and surrounding community will have an excellent opportunity to learn about our state's public affairs from one of its leading practitioners,鈥 says Micah Rasmussen 鈥92, director of the Rebovich Institute.
Coughlin, who has held numerous positions in his home county of Middlesex, is passionate about improving the lives of New Jersey鈥檚 most vulnerable citizens. He has led multiple statewide bills aimed at addressing food insecurity issues and even launched his own 鈥淏owl for Hunger鈥 fundraising event in 2018.
"Speaker Coughlin is viewed as a pragmatic, moderating influence on state policy,鈥 says Rasmussen. 鈥淲e are eager to hear how he accomplishes this approach in a time of political polarization."
The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics is dedicated to public service and scholarly analysis of government, public policy, campaigns and elections in New Jersey. It was founded in 2001 by the late Professor David Rebovich (1949鈥2007). Today, the Rebovich Institute is a dynamic and creative home where students can network, study and gain practical experience in New Jersey politics.
