Cranberry Fest will be held on Tuesday, September 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Campus Mall. The entire University community is invited to enjoy delicious cranberry cuisine, live music and games with friends and colleagues.

A Rider tradition since 1979, Cranberry Fest, celebrates Andrew J. Rider, the first president of the Trenton Business College, who introduced the cranberry to the queen of England. She later nicknamed him “The Cranberry King of New Jersey.” 

One of this year’s highlights will be the introduction of the Bronc Bar, a frozen treat designed for С����Ƶ by Uncle Dave’s Ice Cream at Shady Brook Farms in Yardley, Pa. The vanilla ice cream bar with real cranberries will be available during the Lawrenceville luncheon, as well as the cranberry-themed dinner later that evening in the Westminster Dining Commons on the Westminster campus.

“The vanilla-based bar with fresh dried cranberries is locally grown and locally produced,” explained John Mozes, general manager of Rider’s radio station, 107.7 The Bronc. During one of the planning meetings for the 2010 Cranberry Fest, Mozes suggested that offering such a tasty treat would be a fun, new tradition. “I thought it would be great way to brand the University at this event and at future ones.”

The Lawrenceville campus event will feature live music by the band Lost in Paris as well as from 107.7 The Bronc; caricatures; skill ball, high striker; spin art; bag toss; and Rider Plinko. Information tables about the Student Recreation Center and the Energy and Sustainability Steering Committee will also be set up. Students, faculty and staff will also have the chance to win the traditional “I Bleed Cranberry” T-shirts. The rain location will be Daly Dining Hall.
