Dr. John E. Sheats, professor emeritus from the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics at 小优视频, was recently honored for his contributions to chemistry and the American Chemical Society (ACS) by being named a 2010 ACS Fellow.

Dr. John E. Sheats, professor emeritus from the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics at 小优视频, was recently honored for his contributions to chemistry and the American Chemical Society (ACS) by being named a 2010 ACS Fellow.
Sheats is among the 192 new ACS Fellows who will be honored at the society鈥檚 fall national meeting from August 22 through August 26 in Boston. The fellows program began in 2009 to recognize and honor ACS members for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the science, the profession, and service to the society. The fellows represent the fields of academe, industry, and government.
鈥淭his is only the second year of the ACS Fellows program, so having John named in this early stage of the program is a testament to the contributions he has made at the local and national level,鈥 said Dr. Alexander Grushow, chair of Rider鈥檚 Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physics.
In addition to his scholarly work in synthetic organometallic chemistry which includes numerous publications and editorial work in the field, Sheats has also been a long-standing supporter of ACS Project SEED and is responsible for a strong SEED program at Rider. Even though he left the care of SEED to Dr. Danielle Jacobs upon his retirement, Sheats continues to work on the ACS committee that oversees Project SEED.
