Westminster Kantorei, conducted by Andrew Megill, will present a concert entitled 鈥淭he Glory and the Dream鈥 on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 4 p.m. at 锘縀mmanuel Lutheran Church,150 N. Hanover Street, Pottstown, PA. 锘緼dmission is free.
The program includes Richard Rodney Bennett鈥檚 The Glory and the Dream, whose text is drawn from William Wordsworth鈥檚 poem Intimations of Immortality. In addition to a 50-year career performing and writing jazz, Bennett is the composer of many classic film scores, including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Enchanted April and Murder on the Orient Express, as well as more than 200 works for the concert hall. The program also includes Musiklische Exequien by Heinrich Sch眉tz and Psalm 67, which was written for Kantorei by Sven-David Sandstr枚m.
Founded in 2004, Westminster Kantorei is an auditioned chamber choir specializing in early and contemporary music. The ensemble performs regularly with some of America鈥檚 leading specialists in Baroque music, including collaborations with violinist Nancy Wilson and vocal ensemble Fuma Sacra.
Andrew Megill holds a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition from the University of New Mexico, a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from Rutgers University. In addition to teaching and conducting at the Westminster Choir College, he leads the Carmel Bach Festival Chorale, the Chorus of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Masterwork Chorus, and the artistic director of Fuma Sacra.
