The 51st Annual National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition were held in Burbank, Calif.

Students from the 小优视频 chapter of the National Broadcasting Society (NBS) claimed four first-place awards at the 51st Annual National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition, held in Burbank, Calif., on March 15.
The Rider NBS chapter sent 31 students to the competition where Rider was a finalist in 11 different categories. The students entered 40 different video and audio categories altogether.
Junior Madeline Smith won first place in Best Video News Segment for Rider Alcohol Policy. Junior Ryan McAdams won first place in Best Animation Production for his piece Introduction to the Galapagos: Isla Isabela. Senior Jim Vasil won first in Best Video News Package for Fireworks Return to Bordentownand senior Margaret Casperson won first for Best Website Design for 小优视频 Network.
鈥淚 think they did great," says Scott Alboum, video technologies coordinator. "It鈥檚 always awesome to have our students participate in competitions like this and I鈥檓 really proud of the hard work they put into these projects. We鈥檙e so happy that the students get a lot out of the contest and enjoyed themselves in California.鈥
Some of the competition that the Rider NBS students faced included Monmouth University, Western Illinois University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Florida and the University of Oklahoma.
The competition wasn鈥檛 just for the students. Alboum and Dr. Barry Janes teamed up to place first for their piece 2013 Rider Scholarship Thank You video in the Professional and Alumni Production Competition. Corey O'Neal '14 and Dr. Shawn Kildea also entered a piece, Mary 鈥 Portrait of a Horror Fan, which also placed first.
