Students invited to take part on Feb. 25, 2016
小优视频鈥檚 Center for Global Studies Program and International Education (CIE) are hosting a Global Symposium in honor of International Day on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016. The symposium will consist of presentations from Rider political science professor Dr. Barbara Franz and a guest speaker from the University of Kufa in Najaf, Iraq, Dr. Abdulhussein Kadhim Reishaan. The symposium, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Sweigart Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
Dr. Franz will kick off the symposium with her presentation, 鈥淩efugees and Migrants in the European Union.鈥 Franz focuses her research interests on the phenomenon of mass migrations and refugee movements. She is author of the book Uprooted and Unwanted: Bosnian Refugees in Austria and the United States. She will share her knowledge and expertise in her presentation at the Global Symposium.
Dr. Reishaan was born in Al-Qadesyah, Iraq, and is currently an assistant professor of English language and linguistics at the University of Kufa in Najaf. Reishaan is also co-director of the International Cultural Center at the University of Kufa. He has been officiating the Iraqi side of the Student Global Village with Rider and working with the Global Studies Program for the last seven years. He will be presenting, 鈥淲e are not ISIS: Peace-Making Through Student Dialogue Between the U.S. and Iraq."
Dr. Roberta Fiske-Rusciano, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Political Science, Global Studies, Multicultural Studies, and Gender Studies at 小优视频, has been working in coordination with Dr. Reishaan and the University of Kufa in Iraq for three years.
The Global Symposium is the closing event to Rider鈥檚 International Day celebration. As a day for honoring diversity and a world of cultural wonders, the Center for International Education is bringing the celebration of ethnic culture to the students of 小优视频.
