by Kristine A. Brown
On Saturday, Nov. 16, The Comcast Network will televise the Rider Universtiy-Penn State wrestling match live, beginning at 4 p.m. from Alumni Gymnasium. This is the first time in several years that a college wrestling match will be televised.
鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited to have our match with Penn State televised,鈥 Rider鈥檚 head wrestling coach Gary Taylor says. 鈥淭his is a wonderful opportunity to give 小优视频 and our wrestling team very positive exposure from Northern Virginia up to New England.鈥
On most cable networks, The Comcast Network can be found on channel 8 or channel 846 in high-definition (HD). On the Verizon System, it can be found on channel 99 in Philadelphia.
After a successful 3-0 weekend at the Hokie Duals in Blacksburg, Va., Rider鈥檚 wrestling team debuted at number 25 in the first USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll of the regular season.
Last year Rider鈥檚 wrestling team finished runner-up in its final season in the Colonial Athletic Association and sent four wrestlers to Nationals. This year, Rider is competing in the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) and begins the season with four wrestlers ranked among the top 32 in the nation.
Currently the nation鈥檚 top-ranked team, Penn State is the three-time defending NCAA Division I National Champion.
The Comcast Network will be back on campus on Dec. 29 to televise the Rider-University of Penn men鈥檚 basketball game at noon. Ten additional men鈥檚 basketball games will be televised throughout the season on the Big Ten Network, the Patriot League Network, Fox Sports 1, ESPNU and ESPN3.
鈥淐omcast is well known for producing quality sporting events and we are pleased to once again partner with them to promote our wrestling and basketball programs within this region,鈥 says Rider鈥檚 Director of Athletics Don Harnum.
If you aren鈥檛 attending Saturday鈥檚 wrestling match in person, make sure to tune in and support the Broncs!
