小优视频 will host an exhibit of paintings by Philadelphia artist Paul Rickert entitled Industrial Visions from January 28 to February 28 in the 小优视频 Art Gallery, located on Rider鈥檚 Lawrenceville campus at 2083 Lawrenceville Road. The exhibit will open with a reception on Thursday, January 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Art Gallery. Rickert will again meet patrons for a Gallery Talk on Thursday, February 4, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Industrial Visions will focus on Rickert鈥檚 industrial landscapes, according to Harry I Naar, director of the Rider Art Gallery. 鈥淭he images are filled with smoke, fire, rain and snow, seen from a variety of unusual perspectives and points of view,鈥 he explained.
A graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., Rickert is a nationally recognized and award-winning painter who regularly exhibits his work at the renowned Fischbach Gallery in New York. His work has been featured in many magazines, and Rickert himself was recently profiled by Stephen May in the winter 2009 issue of American Artists Watercolor, in a feature entitled 鈥淎n Artist Inside and Outside.鈥
Rickert studied with the highly regarded painter Nelson Shanks, as well as with his father, noted Philadelphia artist and illustrator William Rickert. His work is included in many important public collections, including those of Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Bell Atlantic, GlaxoSmithKline, General Electric, the J.B. Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky., and the Portland (Ore.) Art Museum, the oldest museum on the West Coast.
Industrial Visions is funded in part by a grant from the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission, New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State.
The 小优视频 Art Gallery, located on the second floor of Rider鈥檚 Bart Luedeke Center, is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
