Longest-serving Treasurer under Gov. Chris Christie to speak on Rider鈥檚 campus

The Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at 小优视频 will present 鈥An Evening with Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff鈥 on Tuesday, March 1. Eristoff, who recently left after serving as Treasurer of the State of New Jersey in the Chris Christie administration, will be talking about the budgetary challenges facing the state.
The event will begin with a light reception at 6 p.m., followed by remarks at 7 p.m. and a question-and-answer period with the audience. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Mercer Room in Daly Dining Hall on Rider鈥檚 Lawrenceville campus.
鈥淎ndrew Sidamon-Eristoff has been a leading player inside the Christie administration for several years,鈥 said Dr. Benjamin Dworkin, director of the Rebovich Institute. 鈥淲e are looking forward to the insights he will provide into the challenges facing New Jersey in the years to come.鈥
Sidamon-Eristoff served as treasurer of the State of New Jersey under Governor Chris Christie from January 2010 to July 2015. As the longest-serving treasurer in almost 40 years, Eristoff supervised a major State department with almost 3,100 employees and more than 10 divisions spanning budget, revenue collection, public finance and debt management, risk management, and many others. He also played a major role in developing Governor Christie鈥檚 landmark 2001 pension and health benefits reforms, and eliminated the State鈥檚 exposure to $4.2 billion in risky derivatives.
Prior to his work in New Jersey government, Eristoff served as commissioner of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, the nation's second-largest state revenue administration, for three years. His public career also includes service as New York City commissioner of finance from 1999 to 2002. He was elected three times to the New York City Council, as a Republican-Liberal representing Manhattan, where he served from 1993 to 1999.
Currently, Eristoff is a private investor, contributor to NJ Spotlight, an online news service covering New Jersey government and politics, and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Hotchkiss School. Eristoff earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in politics from Princeton University in 1985 and his juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989.
