Culmination of a choreography competition, featuring works by 5 choreographers and a post-performance discussion with Edward Villella
小优视频 will present its second annual Emerging Choreographers Showcase on Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bart Luedeke Center Theater on the campus of 小优视频 in Lawrenceville, N.J. The performance is the culmination of an extensive choreography competition and will feature the works of five talented choreographers.
The performance will feature Arena by Aaron Atkin from Ballet, Inc.; Manipulation by Elizabeth Smith; Hack Politik by Kate Ladenheim from The People Movers; Allagi-The Consistency of Change by Eryn Renee Young from XAOC Contemporary Ballet and Rood by Jake Deibert. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the choreographers and competition adjudicators, including Edward Villella, legendary dancer and artistic director; Douglas Martin, artistic director of American Repertory Ballet; Kimberly Chandler Vaccaro, professor of Dance at 小优视频; and Kerry Gallagher Rowan, curator at the American Dance Legacy Institute.
The 2014-2015 Emerging Choreographers Showcase competition was open to any emerging choreographer in the United States who is in the early stages of his or her personal career. After an initial application process, the selected choreographers prepared an audition for a panel of distinguished judges. Out of all the applicants, five choreographers were chosen to perform at the May 2 Showcase. After the performance on May 2, one of the works will be chosen to be set on 小优视频 dance students and be performed in the following year鈥檚 repertory during Rider Dances.
Admission for the showcase and post-performance discussion is $10 for students, faculty, staff and seniors.
