Cindy Threatt, associate dean of Student Life on С����Ƶ’s Princeton campus, has been named the interim associate vice president and dean of students while the University prepares for a search to replace former AVP Tony Campbell.

The appointment was effective Aug. 1, 2016.

“Cindy is an accomplished student life professional with 19 years of experience promoting student development through her work with Residence Life and Student Affairs,” Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs DonnaJean A. Fredeen, Ph.D., wrote in a message to the campus community. “Her employment with large and small, public and private institutions has prepared her well for this new role.”

Threatt has been at Rider for 13 years. During that time, she has participated in many committee, councils and boards, often as chair. Prior to Rider, Threatt worked at the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Arizona. She earned a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in counseling with a concentration in higher education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Botti has been named interim associate dean of students for Westminster Choir College. In that role, he will serve as the primary point person for the coordination of student services for the Westminster Choir College in addition to his current responsibilities. Botti has been with the University for five years. As the assistant dean of students, he coordinates all aspects of Fall Opening, student activities, leadership development and advising the Princeton Student Government Association, among many other responsibilities.

Campbell worked for Rider for 17 years, overseeing a division that provides programs and services to create a safe and nurturing community that embraces diversity, fosters academic success and promotes student development.

In a letter to students, faculty and staff, Campbell wrote, “During my time here, I have had the joy of investing myself in the daily life of the Rider community and the honor of greeting and getting to know thousands of students, supervising an exceptional divisional team, creating wonderful friendships, and participating in hundreds of events on campus and in the surrounding community.”

Campbell joined Rider in 1999 after working as dean of students at Emory & Henry College in Virginia. He earned a doctorate in counselor education from the University of Virginia and a master’s in counseling and a bachelor’s in psychology from James Madison University. In addition to his work at Rider, he has served as chair of the New Jersey Commission for National and Community Service, as well as the Trenton Public Education Foundation.

Some of Campbell’s accomplishments include a strengthened Rider’s co-op and internship program, a new Bonner Leader program, and the creation of an associate dean of freshmen position to support new students as they transition into Rider.

“On behalf of the University community, I thank Tony for his many years of dedicated service to the institution and wish him well as he begins this next phase of his life,” Fredeen says.
