Biography
I鈥檝e spent most of my career in the heart of New York City鈥檚 music industry, working closely with songwriters, artists, and executives to help shape and support their careers. My journey began as a professional singer and evolved into a rewarding path on the business side of music. I eventually became Vice President of Writer/Publisher Relations at SESAC, one of the major performing rights organizations, where I worked for over two decades.
I鈥檝e always enjoyed the collaborative and creative energy of the entertainment industry, and over time, I found myself mentoring and advising others. First informally, then through teaching. That passion led me to design educational programs for the NYC music community and to teach at institutions like NYU鈥檚 Clive Davis Institute and here at 小优视频, where I鈥檓 now a tenured full-time faculty member in the Arts & Entertainment Industries Management (AEIM) program. I was proud to help evolve Rider鈥檚 established Arts Administration program into AEIM and to collaborate with Professor Todd Dellinger on developing courses that focus on the commercial entertainment industry.
Throughout my career, I鈥檝e remained active in advocacy and industry leadership. I鈥檝e served as President of Women in Music, Inc., Secretary of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and as a longtime leader with the Recording Academy (The Grammy Awards), including roles as Chapter President, National Trustee, and now a member of the NY Chapter鈥檚 Advocacy Committee. I also co-founded NYC3 (New York City Creative Community), a networking group that connected and educated independent music publishers through regular industry events for a decade.
I hold an A.A. in Educational Theatre from Ferrum College, a B.M. in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from 小优视频, where my thesis, 鈥淕ender Equity and Executive Roles in the Music Industry: Will We Ever Reach a 50/50 Parity?鈥 reflected my ongoing commitment to advocacy and equity in the field. I was honored with the program's Outstanding Achievement in Organizational Leadership award.
I鈥檓 proud to bring real-world experience and a deep network of industry connections into the classroom, and I love helping students discover the exciting and diverse career paths available in this field.
My goal is straightforward: to help you transform your passion for the arts and entertainment into a meaningful and fulfilling career. When your work aligns with what inspires you, it doesn鈥檛 feel like a job. It feels like something you were meant to do. This industry has space for your talents, and I鈥檓 here to help you find your place in it.
