The Westminster Jubilee Singers and the choirs of Nassau Church and All Saints Church will present the Tribulation Suite, an extended work based on Negro Spirituals by Roger Holland, II.
As part of the 2027 Celebration of Black Music, the Westminster Jubilee Singers will be joined by the choirs of Nassau Church and All Saints Church for a powerful performance of M. Roger Holland II’s The Tribulation Suite. Drawing on four African American spirituals– “Nobody Knows the Trouble I See,” “I’m Troubled in Mind,” “Wade in the Water” and “Soon Ah Will Be Done”—the work explores themes of suffering, struggle, healing, faith and hope.
Through Holland’s expressive arrangements, these enduring spirituals become a moving musical reflection on the human experience and the resilience of the human spirit. With three choirs coming together as one, this special performance celebrates the profound tradition of African American sacred music and the power of music to bring communities together.
